Gentlemen,
With reference to your letter of the 20th instant,
relative to the error in the Bills of Lading covering
the 700 slabs of Tin shipped by your Hong-Kong House
per 8.3. "Walton Hall" consigned to His Majesty's Consul
General, New York, for account of the American Metal
Company, I am directed by the Rubber and Tin Exports
Committee to state that upon enquiry it appears that the
cable advice sent to the Governor of Hong-Kong respecting
the release of the consignment in question, correctly
gave the name of the consignees as "American Metal Company"
and, in these circumstances, no further action on the part
of this Committee appears necessary.
I am to suggest, however, that you approach the
Foreign Office with a request that the Department will
cable (at your expense) to the Consul General explaining
the error and requesting him to release the metal to the
proper consignees.
I am, etc.,
(signed) J. K. GREBBY.
Secretary.
